QTS PP Polypropylene Filament 1.75mm

The King of Chemical Resistance & Living Hinges

Solves what PLA and ABS can't. Extreme toughness (>200% elongation), ultra-lightweight (0.90 g/cm³ — floats on water), and FDA food-contact safe raw materials. Open-chamber friendly.

✓ FDA Food-Contact Safe ✓ >200% Elongation ✓ 0.90 g/cm³ Floats ✓ No Heated Chamber Needed ✓ Vacuum Sealed

7 Reasons to Choose QTS PP Filament

□ Extreme Chemical Resistance

Highly resistant to acids, alkalis, solvents, and cleaning agents. Where PLA dissolves and ABS degrades, PP thrives. Perfect for lab equipment, chemical storage, and industrial containers.

□ Living Hinges That Never Break

With >200% elongation at break, QTS PP withstands thousands of bending cycles. The go-to material for snap-fit enclosures, living hinges, flexible clips, and springs.

⚡ Ultra-Lightweight — It Floats!

At 0.90 g/cm³, it is lighter than water and significantly lighter than PLA, ABS, and PETG. Ideal for drone frames, aquatic accessories, and any weight-sensitive application.

□️ FDA Food-Contact Safe

Manufactured with FDA food-contact compliant raw materials. Safe for direct food contact — print custom containers, cookie cutters, and kitchen accessories with confidence.

□ Low Warping, High Stability

QTS PP is specially formulated to minimize the notorious warping and poor bed adhesion typical of polypropylene. Excellent layer adhesion ensures strong, delamination-resistant prints.

□ Low Moisture Absorption

PP is naturally hydrophobic, making it far less sensitive to humidity than Nylon or PVA. Every spool is vacuum-sealed with desiccant for maximum shelf life.

□️ Open-Chamber Friendly

No heated enclosure required. Print on your Bambu Lab A1, Prusa MK4, Creality Ender 3, or any open-frame FDM printer. Just use a PP-compatible bed adhesive and you're good to go.

Recommended Print Settings

Parameter Recommended Value Notes
Nozzle Temp 220°C – 260°C Start at 240°C for best adhesion
Bed Temp 60°C – 80°C Use PP bed adhesive (Magigoo PP or packing tape)
Print Speed 50 – 200 mm/s Slow first layer (30 mm/s) for best adhesion
Cooling Fan 0% – 50% Keep low to maximize layer bonding
Retraction 1 – 3 mm (Direct Drive) PP has low viscosity; minimize retraction to avoid jams
Enclosure Not required Draft-free environment recommended for large prints

Printer Compatibility

QTS PP filament is compatible with all FDM/FFF printers using 1.75mm filament, including:

  • Bambu Lab: A1, A1 Mini, P1S, P1P, X1C, X1E
  • Prusa: MK3S+, MK4, Mini+, XL
  • Creality: Ender 3 V3, K1, K1 Max, CR-10
  • Voron, RatRig, and other open-source builds
  • Any open-chamber FDM printer — no heated enclosure required

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is PP filament food safe?
A: Yes. QTS PP is manufactured using FDA food-contact compliant raw materials (21 CFR 177.1520). It is safe for direct food contact applications such as custom food containers, cookie cutters, and kitchen accessories. We recommend rinsing prints before first use.
Q: Can I print PP without a heated enclosure?
A: Absolutely. QTS PP has been specially reformulated for low warping. Unlike standard PP, it does not require a heated chamber. Simply use a PP-compatible bed adhesive (such as Magigoo PP or packing tape) and you can print successfully on any open-frame printer.
Q: Why is PP filament more expensive than PLA?
A: PP offers capabilities that PLA simply cannot match: extreme chemical resistance, living hinge durability (thousands of flex cycles), FDA food-contact compliance, and the lightest weight of any common filament. If your application requires any of these properties, QTS PP delivers exceptional value.
Q: How should I store PP filament?
A: PP is naturally low in moisture absorption, but proper storage extends shelf life. Keep the spool in its original vacuum-sealed bag until use. After opening, store in an airtight container with silica gel desiccant. If the filament has been exposed to humidity, dry at 60°C for 2–4 hours before printing.
Q: What is the density of PP filament and why does it matter?
A: QTS PP has a density of 0.90 g/cm³ — lighter than water. Compared to PLA (1.24), ABS (1.04), and PETG (1.27), PP produces the lightest prints. This matters enormously for drone frames, wearables, and any application where minimizing weight is critical.

Safety & Storage

  • Ventilation: Print in a well-ventilated area. PP emits minimal fumes but good airflow is always recommended.
  • Storage: Keep in original vacuum-sealed bag until use. Store with desiccant in a cool, dry location.
  • Drying: If exposed to humidity, dry at 60°C for 2–4 hours in a filament dryer or oven before printing.
  • Handling: Avoid prolonged skin contact with molten filament. Keep out of reach of children.
